Join Finley Rick at Baker Creek Ceramics for this exciting clay experience! You will learn how to throw bowls on the potter's wheel AND learn to handbuild dishes. This ten week class will show you several techniques to create the projects you want. Class will meet Thursdays 6 to 8:30 pm for 10 sessions. Our last gathering will be from 6 to 6:30 pm to pick-up your finished work. Classes will include a 20 to 30 minute demonstration at the beginning of each session. Clay is $30 per bag (25 pounds). You can purchase clay on-line or the first day of class. Bring your pottery tools, some plastic to cover your work in progress, a small hand towel, dress for mess and be ready for some fun! 

All levels welcome! Ages 16 and up. Class minimum 4/maximum 8. 

Week 1: handbuilding, coil bowl or planter

Week 2: handbuilding, pinch pot salsa or sauce bowls

Week 3: handbuilding, slab plates and platters

Week 4: Finish up handbuilding projects, get work ready to fire

Week 5: Glazing

Week 6: throwing, wedging, centering and throwing cylinders or bowls

Week 7: trimming and review cylinders/bowls

Week 8: independent student projects

Week 9: independent student projects

Week 10: glazing

PICK UP WORK Thursday, December 5th from 6 to 6:30 pm.

Beginning 9/20 there will be make-up sessions/open studio for enrolled students Friday afternoons and Saturday morning. You will get a class syllabus before your class begins with details.

Class, Cancellation & Refund Policy

Withdrawals and refunds – If Baker Creek Ceramics cancels a class students will receive a full refund. Students who withdraw two weeks or more prior to the first day of class will receive a full refund less a $25.00 processing fee. Students who withdraw fewer than two weeks prior to a class will not receive a refund.

Missed Classes – There are no discounts, refunds or make up sessions for missed classes. In the fall and winter, there are usually some open studio hours available for students who miss a class, but check on your specific class. There is no instruction during the make up sessions.

Class Cancellation – All classes not meeting the minimum enrollment of 4 students one week prior to the start date may be cancelled.  Baker Creek Ceramics will contact students in affected class and offer refunds or placement in an additional class.

Disruptive Behavior - Baker Creek has the right to remove a student from a class if the student's behavior is offensive or disruptive to the class. 

Enrolled Students Only - Class instruction is for students enrolled in the class ONLY, no guests. 

Final Fired Ceramic Work - Your pieces will be fired within two weeks of your final glazing class session. Students will receive a list of pick up dates and times. Any student work left more than 60 days will be donated to the Dead Pot Society.
